Nighttime Routines for Better Sleep Based on Your Astrological Sign

You probably have nighttime rituals to enhance sleep. They may be more or less effective. Understanding the unique elements of your astrological sign will hopefully provide insight or even new ideas on self-care.

Most articles about the zodiac start with Aries but because we’re creating this post on August 9th  during the powerful lion’s gate portal we decided to begin with the astrological sign of Leo.

 

Leo (July 23 to August 22)

Your sign: You’re high-energy, and nothing fuels your fire more than socializing. When your flame burns out, you’re done for the day, making it fairly easy to run on all cylinders until bedtime without having any trouble nodding off.

Virgo (August 23 to September 22)

Your sign: You enjoy being busy and you’re highly task-oriented, always looking at what’s on your to-do list now and what should be on it tomorrow. You enjoy exploring new ways to improve yourself, and you’re a bit of a neat freak.

Best bedtime routine– Journaling. As you do, imagine clearing those thoughts out of your conscious mind and fully relaxing. Write down your intentions for how you want the next day’s activities to feel and their likely outcomes.

 

Libra (September 23 to October 22)

Your sign: You value one-on-one connections and prefer real conversations to social media posts and messages. You’re also a voracious reader, especially books and magazines that make you feel transported to another place.

Best bedtime routine– have an in-person conversation with your partner or roommate. Catch up on your correspondence—write a letter, send a birthday or anniversary card, etc. Lay out your outfit for the next day, then grab something escapist to read before bed, like the latest fiction best-seller or a travel magazine.

 

Scorpio (October 23 to November 21)

Your sign: You’re a passionate person. You enjoy intense emotional experiences and like Cancers, you tend to absorb the energy and emotions you encounter through the day. And you have a tendency to mull those encounters over…and over and over.

Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)

Your sign: You’re drawn to beauty, inspiration and contemplation. You love to learn and enjoy experiences that help you put the world into perspective. Socializing and collaborative activities bring you joy, and your adventurous energy means you enjoy getting physical.

Best bedtime routine– Create a vision board. Doing so could help unwind and serve as a reminder of your future adventure plans. “Start by adding one image each night before bed to your board, as a way to continue to expand on your purpose with intention. When the board is complete, hang it in a place where you can see it from your bed.

 

Capricorn (December 22 to January 19)

Your sign: You’re never without a project, whether you’re at work or at home. You enjoy feeling useful and you’re an expert multitasker, carrying on involved conversations while you’re also plowing through your inbox. Relaxing on the couch is torturous for you—you’d rather be up and active, getting things done.

Best bedtime routine– Visualization. Use that high energy before sleep; visualize what you want to call into your life and recite positive affirmations as part of your bedtime ritual. Doing so, helps ensures a positive mindset in time for drifting off and also communicates a sense of safety to the body.

 

Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)

Your sign: You don’t like monotony, so you tend to change up your daily routine pretty regularly. Out of all the zodiac signs, you’re the binge-watcher of the bunch, and you tend to watch your favorite shows over and over, often returning to specific ones to produce specific emotions (the show you watch when you want to laugh, to cry, etc.)

Looking through your Instagram feed lets you feel social without actually having to socialize, and you find the process of checking your favorite accounts soothing. Watching a couple of episodes of a show (whether it’s a regular from your rotation or a new one you just read about) can also help you feel calm before bed.

Pisces (February 19 to March 20)

Your sign: You absorb what happens around you and you’re deeply sensitive. You love routine and relaxation—tackling to-dos around the house before bed is not your ideal way to end the day. You love comfort, including your clothes, and generally can’t wait to get out of your work-wear. As a water sign, you feel your best when you’re drinking plenty of fluids.

Best bedtime routine– Lucid Dreams. Before bed, meditate to clear the mind and still the body. Set the intention to remember your dreams. Keep a dream journal to jot down your dream symbols right when you wake up. The dreams will become more vivid and prophetic over time.

Out of all the signs, it’s most important for you to mentally and physically separate from the day, since you tend to carry the weight of whatever happened with you once you get home.

Your sign: “Talkative” doesn’t quite do you justice. You genuinely love connecting with others and tending to your relationships. You avoid monotony as much as possible, preferring to mix things up rather than fall into a set routine.

She suggests listening to a guided meditation to ground into the present moment and calm the mind.

 

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

Your sign: You like your alone time, preferring to recharge in private instead of surrounded by people. You’re a caretaker, both of yourself and others. You’re also highly sensitive, and you tend to absorb the energy of whatever happened that day, for better or for worse.

Best bedtime routine Water Rituals. Head to the bathroom and take a nice, long soak in the tub (or shower, if the tub’s not an option). We’re talking 30 to 40 minutes, not a five-minute dip. It’ll help you mentally wash the day away so you’re ready to wake and repeat tomorrow.
